DESCRIPTION OF THE TREATY The route
pedaOlona starts from
Nerviano and connects the areas along
Olona river in San Lorenzo,
Parabiago, Canegrate, San Vittore Olona
and Legnano, ending at Legnano's Castle
Park.
This
route
is characterized by various landscapes
accompanied by the view of Olona
river.
Along PedaOlona there are colorful
plants and flowers,
long stretches of fields and also many
edible wild fruits. Most of the
trail allows to enjoy nature, to
observe flora and fauna and to see the
remains of many mills or mills still
present along the river as well as
remains of the productive activities
of the past and finally the
Visconti Castle in Legnano.
FROM NERVIANO TO LEGNANO The
route starts at Abbey of Colorina
in Nerviano and it is characterized
by the vision of Villoresi
Canal
accompanying biking for a few
meters, replaced soon after by Olona
river which here goes under
Villoresi Canal. Then the
path continues
with
the landscape in the countryside
surrounding the Starquà mill,
where there are lilies in bright
color. The mill in perfect condition
can be visited during the opening
hours of the store of products of
the
"Rice's Castle"
farm business.
After the mill we will reach S.
Lorenzo of Parabiago along a
stretch of paved road (Alcide de
Gasperi street). A short deviation
leads to
the Crespi
Bonsai
Museum.
Across the Filarete street you can follow country roads along the Empyre discotheque, the Rancilio furnace, San Vittore Olona and foppa of San Vittore, a large pond filled with ducks, frogs and many other animals. Soon after, the tour continues with a section that passes in the Canegrate's municipality through the streets Molino Scossiroli and Antonio Barlocco, leading to the former Galletto mill now BeerBanti bar and restaurant where you can refresh yourself and at the Mills' Park stables where you can do horse riding. Then the tour continues to the remains of the Visconti di Modrone textile mill and the Meraviglia and Cornaggia mills to finally arrive at Castle Park of Legnano: a wide green area that grows beside Olona River where you can also find a wetland with wild geese, swans, turtles, herons, fishes, and also a large number of gray squirrels. The park has also a small bar, a bowls court and an skating rink. Next to the park there is the Visconti castle, home to exhibitions and cultural initiatives. FROM NERVIANO
TO LEGNANO It follows the same path or you can try the path on the right bank of the river passing through Legnano (Castle Park) - Canegrate (purifier) - Parabiago. -BY CAR: for those coming from the south you can park your car near the Colorina abbey in Nerviano in G. Cantoni street; for those coming from the north you can park at the Castle Park in Legnano. -BY BYCICLE: travel along the Green-Blue Ring - bike lane of Villoresi Canal to the intersection with the highway SS33 Sempione -BY TRAIN: Regional line s5 stations Parabiago, or Canegrate or Legnano
