Description
At the borders of Castegnate
One of the first mills of Legnano was located between Gabinella and Castellanza. In this place mill Cuttica and Caimi were built. Today a farmstead reminds us the past.
The oldest known document in which a mill
on the Olona is named is from 1043, owned by Pietro Vismara,
to "Cogonzio" (name disappeared), between the "Gabinella" in
Legnano and Castegnate in Castellanza. In this area - La
Gabinella - there were two mills, Cuttica and Caimi, for
grinding wheat. Today a farmhouse remembers its past.
