The ancient culture stood on the edge of the Olona river's terrace

About three thousand years ago on the terrace of the river Olona, where today stands Canegrate established a community with its own culture that spread in the subalpine and prealpine area in the center-west. Today, as then, farmers cultivate the fertile Olona Valley.

Bronze Culture (12th-10th century B. C. ): an extensive necropolis found near Canegrate, testifying to the affirmation of the crematory rite and the first examples of burials with ceramic equipment. Widespread in the sub-Alpine and pre-Alpine central-western area, it shows connections with the contemporary cultures of the urn and proto-Villanovan fields. It is also called Protogolasecchiano because it introduces the culture of Golasecca. DE. C. O. PROJECT THE MUNICIPAL DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN
