The museum, which opened on 16th of September 1988, includes exhibits objects that illustrate the local history of Parabiago. Previously it was divided into five areas: the entrance, the living room, the dining room of curiosities, the hall of the work, the secretariat where they could find the documents, memoirs, photographs, objects from the past and present of civilization Parabiago. On 31st of March 2012 was held the reopening and the inauguration of the museum that was closed for renovation and reorganization of the premises by the architect Rimoldi and a team of volunteers.

Many of the exhibits have been eliminated because of their low historical value. The museum was divided into three sections: the first documented archaeological excavations, the Battle of Parabiago, touching the great wars and the previous centuries. The second room shows the life and professional development of the great carver Giuseppe Maggiolini through some memorably creations. In the last room, called "curiosities", we can find small collections, individual objects, fossils, etc.. Rimoldi, the architect, said that "the reorganization of this space was made thinking about a predominantly educational purposes." So the "new museum", which illustrates the history of Parabiago, is mainly dedicated to young people, thanks to the help of computer science that has made modern the exhibition space.
