Flood relief works on the Olona River affect the municipalities of Canegrate, Legnano, Parabiago, and San Vittore Olona. The project is part of the overall system of projects requested by the Lombardy Region for risk prevention and flood control.

The Mulini park has developed a feasibility study called the "Vairone" project to improve the environmental aspect of the Olona River rolling works. Both mitigating and compensatory works and agri-environmental management are planned at the end of the works. The project is part of a broader river redevelopment planned as part of the Olona, Bozzente, and Lura Sub-Basin Strategic Plan, jointly defined by the River Contract with the assistance of the Parco dei Mulini and approved by the Regional Council at the end of 2022. 

In 2025, the rolling areas of the Olona River were "inaugurated".
