Description

An abandoned area retakes its life thanks to young high students school

The purpose of the Oasis is that of contributing to the spread of a respectful ethic and the enhancement of the environment. If we began to appreciate the beauties of nature, we wouldn't damage them.

The park that was used for the test of the MEP lawnmowers and, further south, the Lampugnani Mill now Vezzini skirt the river Olona.
The park was originally used for photographs of the MEP Company's product presentations: gardening machinery and equipment and outboard motors. The depression, now transformed into an "agility dog", was used for the testing of nautical engines. MEP is the institutional brand chosen by the Marazzini brothers around the '40s to identify their activity. The acronym conveys the origins of the company founded in 1897: Marazzini Ernesto Parabiago. One hundred years of history are the result of the commitment that has involved four generations, an entrepreneurial success built with intelligence and sacrifice.
In the 2013/2014 school year, the 5th D of the Cavalleri di Parabiago High School promoted a project called "Oasis of Peace and Beauty" aimed at the redevelopment of the former MEP area, abandoned for many years.
After winning the second prize of the national competition "Meet no Neet", which through a training program has enabled them to do social design, the children, thanks to the collaboration of numerous public and private entities, have redeveloped the area for public use.
The objective of this Oasis is to help spread a culture of respect and enhancement of the environment. If we begin to appreciate the beauty of nature, we could not and would never want to damage it. The perception of beauty can influence our relationship with the environment: it can help us to feel good, to save nature and to preserve the landscape.
The project was promoted by the Cavalleri di Parabiago High School, while the maintenance is carried out by the Municipality of Parabiago and by Legambiente volunteers.
