The park that in the past was used for the testing of lawn mower MEP and the Mill Lampugnani now Vezzini, further south, bordering the river Olona.
The park was used originally for the photos of presentation of products of the MEP factory: machinery and equipment for the gardening and outboard engines. The depression, now transformed in “agility dog” it needed to the test of ships’ engines. MEP is the institutional brand, chosen by brothers Marazzini, to identify their own activity in the ‘40s. The acronym shall transmit the origins of the Factory born back in 1897: Marazzini Ernesto Parabiago. Hundred years of history are the result of the effort that has involved four generation, an entrepreneurial success built with elegance and sacrifice.
In the school year 2013/2014, the class 5^D of the Liceo Scientifico Claudio Cavalleri of Parabiago promoted a project called “Oasi di Pace e di Bellezza” for the retrain of the ex MEP area, abandoned for many years. Won the second place of the national competition “Meet no Neet” which through an educational path, placing them in the condition to do social planning. Thanks to the collaboration of numerous public and private entities, guys retrained the area for public use.
The objective of the Oasi is to help spread a culture of respect and exploitation of the environment. If we start to appreciate the beauties of the nature, we can’t and we wouldn’t want to harm them. The perception of the beauty can affect our relationship with the environment: it could help us to be healthy, to save the nature and to preserve the landscape.
The project has been promoted by Liceo Scientifico Cavalleri of Parabiago, while the maintenance is done by the Comune of Parabiago and by the volunteers of Legambiente.
