Once that horse, made of maple-beams, stood there
especially then, storm-clouds thundered in the sky
                                                                                                                                                Aeneid II, 112-113

In this passage, Aeneas recalls his history: the events that caused Troy’s downfall and the deceit of the wooden horse invented by Ulysses to break into the city and take the stronghold by force. In particular, Virgil tell us how the wooden horse, which hid inside it the most courageous Greek heroes, was made with maple beams.
